Orvieto, Umbria

The history of Orvieto is linked to Pope Clemente VII who sought refuge in the city for reasons of security in 1527. It was Pope Clemente VII who commissioned the construction of St Patrick's well, today a historical monument.

Other sites of interest: the Cathedral, the Church of St Andrea, the Church of St Domenico, the Church of St Giovenale, Palazzo Soliano, Palazzo dei Sette, Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, the Cathedral museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the underground city of Orvieto, the Necropoli of the clay Crucifix and the Mancinelli Theatre.
