Refuge of Pope Clemente VII, a city of a prosperous past and immense architectural beauty.

The history of Orvieto is linked to Pope Clemente VII who sought refuge in the city for reasons of security in 1527. It was Pope Clemente VII who commissioned the construction of St Patrick's well, today a historical monument.
