Giuseppe Valadier's 18th century masterpiece

Three reasons why you'll love it here

  1. A holiday of a lifetime staying in a villa built by Valadier
  2. The art workshops organized by the cultural association
  3. The gorgeous (and secret!) gardens

An enticing combination of the art, architecture, history and countryside of Umbria greets guests arriving at Villa Pianciani, a magnificent patrician mansion house realized in the late 18th century by the eminent Roman architect, Giuseppe Valadier. Part of the historical heritage of Spoleto, preserved thanks to an extensive restoration project, Villa Pianciani is now one of Umbria's most prestigious period residences.

Set in an immense historical park, the monumental complex is comprised of the "Casino Principale" (the main mansion house), the "Vecchie Cucine" (the old kitchens and service quarters) and the "Casale dei Rombi" (country house). Each and every corner of the complex oozes with historic charm, from the ornately decorated library to the frescoed lobby, sumptuous halls, elegant loggia and neoclassical style chapel.

Guest accommodation is provided in eight bedrooms located on the main or 'noble' floor of the "Casino Principale" and in three studio flats in the "Casino delle Vecchie Cucine". All rooms are furnished with precious antiques. Two studios also have their own kitchen-cum-living room. On the opposite side of the park, the "Casale dei Rombi" has been converted into an elegant country house complete with private swimming pool and splendid terrace overlooking the valley.

Villa Pianciani is the seat of an important cultural association founded to both safeguard and promote the monumental complex and to endorse Umbria's cultural heritage. Part of the Vecchie Cantine is now used as a workshop in which, throughout the year, courses in painting, photography and glass art are held.

In the warm summer months, guests staying at Villa Pianciani while away the hours strolling in the historical park and through the estate's extensive olive groves or simply relaxing by the panoramic swimming pool. From the villa's sweeping terraces, the unmistakable profiles of the nearby cities of Spoleto, Assisi, Montefalco and Spello can be seen.
