Torre Palombara introduction

In the rolling countryside just outside the medieval town of Narni, Torre Palombara is a stunning period residence the origins of which date back to the 15th century. Until that time, very few buildings had been constructed beyond the fortified walls of Umbria's towns and villages, and the Torre Palombara was one of the first in the area to occupy such an "exposed" position. In the 17th century, period in which the Umbrian countryside was deemed a safer place to reside, the torre, or tower, became part of a villa belonging to the local nobility.

Torre Palombara has been recently transformed in charming historic residence, ideal those visitors in search of a peaceful country retreat in Umbria. Part hotel, part private villa, Torre Palombara is an elegant home from home, in which to find welcoming stone fireplaces, comfortable sofas and armchairs, beautiful flower arrangements and, from every window, stunning views of Narni and the surrounding countryside.

Torre Palombara is an exclusive and intimate property, offering guest accommodation in just six bedrooms, one suite and an apartment. The rooms, located on the two upper floors of the residence, are all individually appointed and equipped with every modern comfort. The split-level Colombaia suite has its own panoramic private terrace and two bathrooms. The Tiglio apartment has independent access and a fully fitted kitchen, making it perfect for those guests wishing to self cater.

When not visiting Narni and the other fascinating little towns and villages located in this part of Umbria, guests might easily be found lazing by the hotel's swimming pool or walking in Torre Palombara's extensive grounds, through shady woods, grassy meadows and fields of magnificent sunflowers.
