San Luca introduction

Hotel San Luca, situated in the center of the picturesque Umbrian town of Spoleto, is built close to the site of an ancient spring where, in the 19th century, a tannery was erected. A striking work of Italian vernacular architecture, the building fell into ruin after having been abandoned in the mid 20th century, when the business was moved out of the town's historical center.

In 1993, recognising the building's great potential as tourist accommodation, Paolo Zuccari acquired the property and supervised the extensive restoration and renovation project which recovered the edifice's former beauty whilst radically transforming its interiors.

Today, guests are welcomed to the Hotel San Luca in a lobby the floors of which are tiled with traditional handmade Clarici Umbrian cotto. Venetian chandeliers, Frau armchairs and exquisite pieces of 18th and 19th century furniture purchased in the various antique shops of Spoleto, create refined yet extremely welcoming ambiance.

The restaurant of the Hotel San Luca, featuring a magnificent trompe l'oeil, is a supremely elegant dining venue, its tables decorated with fabulous Rivolta and Carmignani linens and Sambonet cutlery. The Richard Ginori coffee set was exclusively designed for the hotel and features Deruta's "Raffaellesca" decorations.

The tastefully appointed and spacious bedrooms of the Hotel San Luca are fitted with every modern convenience. The Carrara marble bathrooms contain furniture and accessories by Tulli Zuccari. A number of bathrooms have the additional appeal of a whirlpool bathtub.

Coffee and aperitifs are served in the courtyard of the hotel; an extremely attractive space adorned with sweet smelling camellias, hydrangeas, jasmines, and geraniums. Hotel San Luca has a stylish meeting room with a seating capacity for up to 90 guests.
