Locanda del Prete Saragano - Gualdo Cattaneo - Umbria

In the heart of the Umbrian countryside, overlooking the valleys of Tiberina and Scaloni, La Locanda del Prete Country House occupies the whole of the medieval hamlet of Saragano. Within the ancient perimeter walls of Saragano, the houses, store rooms, and stables, many of which dating back to the 13th century, have all been beautifully restored and converted in attractive holiday apartments, a restaurant and bar.

Guest accommodation is available in eleven independent apartments, in which to find original exposed wooden beam ceilings, terracotta floors, stone fireplaces, and furnishings in local "arte povera" style. Each unit has its own kitchen or kitchenette and sleeps 4 to 7 adults.

Locanda del Prete's traditional Umbrian restaurant has been created in buildings once used as store rooms. Delicious pasta dishes, soups, spit roasts and Norcia cold cuts are served either in the dining room or on the panoramic terrace overlooking the valleys. Meals are prepared using the Locanda's own highly acclaimed extra virgin olive oil and accompanied by the region's much loved Sagrantino wines.

For fans of fine tobacco Locanda del Prete has a Cigar Bar, where Umbria's very first Cigar Club was founded. Here, some 4000 cigars of 20 different varieties are stored in the humidor and are available for tasting, together with a shot of rum or vintage port. Just below the walls of the hamlet, La Locanda del Prete's swimming pool is the perfect place where to relax in the sunshine. On request, small scale social events are held on the poolside.
